View the Fungal burden of disease in Ireland: Helped estimate the burden of fungal disease in Ireland using the standardized model. Dorgan. Burden in Ireland
Personal comment on the major needs in Ireland which GAFFI should be addressing:
• A robust surveillance procedure to allow more accurate estimates of invasive fungal infection
• Improved awareness of, and training in, the diagnosis and treatment of invasive fungal disease
• Widespread implementation of antifungal stewardship strategies that have been trialed already (mainly relating to Aspergillus infection)
• New research to establish the efficacy and safety of new antifungal stewardship strategies (mainly relating to Candida infection) and to refine existing models
• Improved access to contemporary rapid diagnostic techniques in support of these antifungal stewardship strategies
